Lee Bates and Sons is truly a
landmark company in the well drilling industry. Lee Bates and Sons started in the well drilling
business in 1935 with Lee's grandfather, C.W. Bates. C.W. Bates owned and operated the original
business in Ithaca area for over 40 years. Since Lee's father never was involved, Lee learned the
business directly from his grandfather eventually moving the business to Rome, NY.
The business
continued to prosper as it has moved from generation to generation with Lee's sons Ed and Tom and
his grandson Chuck all taking part in operating the business.
Today, with over 68 years and 4
generations of experience, Lee Bates and Sons is proud to be one of the most respected well drillers
in the Central New York area. With over 7,500 wells there are few companies that have gained the
knowledge and expertise necessary to handle almost any job.
